How long does the challenge take to complete?
The amount of time it takes to complete the challenge is truly based upon you and/or your team's ability to solve clues and puzzles. The challenge has been designed to completed in a weekend, however it could take more or less time. But don't worry, once you have registered, you can return as many times as you'd like, at no additional charge, and pick up right where you left off!
Do we have to start the challenge on a weekend?
While we market the Enchanted Mountain Challenge as a"weekend adventure" you can start the challenge any day of the week. Plan to make a couple of day trips to the area or book overnight accommodations and make it a mini vacation. The challenge runs 7 days per week from the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend through the Monday of Labor Day.
What should I bring?
A comfortable pair of shoes or boots, a smartphone with a camera, water and brainpower are the essentials! There will be opportunities along the way for meals and snacks. It wouldn't hurt to have an umbrella or rain gear in case Mother Nature decides to make things interesting. If it has been raining recently, waterproof boots may be wise.
Does the challenge sell out?
Not a chance! An unlimited number of participants can register for the challenge. The more participants, the greater the cash prize!
How fit do I have to be to participate?
The challenge does involve exploring the great outdoors, which on a few clues could include a short hike or walk. Most people of an average fitness level can easily complete the challenge. If you have concerns about a specific member of your team or a particular clue, do not worry! You can contact us anytime and we will provide a solution that fits you or your team!
Is this a race?
Negative. The challenge runs from Mid May through Mid October (exact dates change every year). It does not matter when you start the challenge...it only matters that you finish be the end of Labor Day Monday.
What is included with my registration purchase?
Each entry to the challenge gives you a "ticket" to participate in this years adventure. If you have not purchased an entry, you cannot attend. If you purchase an entry, and have somebody join you during the challenge who has not purchased an entry, you and your team will be disqualified from the final drawings.
I am stuck on a clue...What do I do?
Not to worry! Our contact information is in your welcome packet. You can call or text us anytime. BUT FIRST... before you do, you will have to head to this very website and purchase a clue. Clues are $5.00 and are a direct donation to a local historical society.
Are my kids welcome to attend?
Of course! The challenge is appropriate for all ages, however you will have to use your own judgement, considering there may be a longer walk/hike and may have to patiently wait while clues are being solved. All children over the age of 16 will need their own entry ticket to attend while children 15 and under can attend for free.
Can I bring my dog?
We are dog lovers..In fact we have dogs, cats, goats, chickens, peacocks, and even four kids! So long story short, yes you can...However you will have to enter several businesses that may restrict animals. You also may be in these places of business for a duration of time. Since it is a summer event, we do not recommend leaving an animal in the car while you are busy solving clues. So use your own judgement on this one.
Where should I stay?
There are several options for lodging throughout the areas that the challenge runs. Multiple hotels, motels, and campgrounds are in the area.
I have mobility or health concerns, can I participate?
Absolutely! If you arrivve at a location that you feel may be a challenge to complete for mobility or health concerns, simply give us a call. We will provide you with what you need to proceed with the challenge.
What happens if I don't finish the challenge?
There is not guarantee that you will finish the challenge, but you can return as often as you like to complete it. Most groups of 4 participants complete the challenge in 2-3 days. You will have until Labor Day Monday to finish the challenge, so good luck.
Can I post the challenge on social media?
YES PLEASE! We are a small, family owned and operated business. We are always trying to grow the challenge, so any referrals or recommendations are very much appreciated! Just remember to keep the clues a secret so the next group coming through can have the same experience you did! (We also have a facebook and YouTube channel, we would love an extra follow!
